The facts and the fiction about CBD oils
Cannabidiol (CBD oil) products are legal to purchase and available at drugstores, grocery stores, and even convenience stores. Many individuals now use CBD for the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression and topical rubs to relieve chronic pain and inflammation without the mind-altering effects of marijuana. But will you fail a drug test if you’re using CBD oils for legitimate medical reasons?
First Choice is Arkansas’ most trusted third-party administrator, and we offer every conceivable lab test at our southwest Little Rock location. We also offer drug and alcohol testing services, pre-employment physicals, and background checks for employers looking for important information that prospective candidates often neglect to include on their applications and resumes. Our staff members all share our commitment to professionalism and customer service, and we keep a Medical Review Officer (MRO) on staff to verify the accuracy of all test results.
We offer onsite drug testing at our lab, located at 6400 Scott Hamilton Drive, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, but we’re busiest from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and you might encounter slightly longer wait times. No appointment is necessary, and you can find more detailed information about our testing procedures on our FAQ page.
We cannot pinpoint the source of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) during the testing process, and we’re obligated to report positive results if the sample’s THC content is 15 ng/ml or higher. Trace amounts of THC might be present in over-the-counter CBD oils, but in our experience, individuals who claim false positives typically have levels significantly higher than 20 ng/ml.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has only approved one CBD product, Epidiolex, for medical use. You should always take the same precautions when using CBD products as you would for any other over-the-counter medication; be sure to read all labeling carefully before purchase and consult your physician before using Cannabidiol products, particularly if you’re taking any other medications.
